Count me in

Have fallen behind on reading the blogs - just spent the evening catching up on both oreneta and carter family. One book every 3 months sounds like fun and my kind of speed at the moment (ruthlessly prioritized life - kids, work, husband, personal hygiene, book every 3 months) - have always wanted to be in a book club and somehow never have been. Can we read new Harry Potter next - yes yes yes!

Of course we all WILL read the next HP so I think that should be in a category of it's own. I am currently listening to HP and the Half Blood Prince in my car and it occurs to me that there don't seem to be any wizarding universities. So how do people get from being Harry's level of wizardry - almost finished his education to Dumbledore's - knowing everything.
(Note to self - I must get a grip on reality)

Oooo, that is a good point, maybe they all go off for apprenticeship programs? Maybe there is a spelling one I could take for words like apprenticeship. Do I have that right?

I am going to start rereading all HP books with a view to finding horcruxes (?plural sp should it be horcruxi?) and any other hints she has scattered around which you miss because of reading too fast with excitement. We have a white board in the office which in July is not going to have boring work things on it but guesses about the outcomes of HP.

Can I just ask that we have a moritorium on talking about the latest book untill at least early August. I will be last on the family waiting list for the book and I am not a fast reader. However when I pick it up from the bookshop with my friend Hilary and we have our traditional HP cup of coffee and scone I dare say we will both read the last page and discover who has copped it. That said I won't be aware of the finer intricacies of the plot till I have read it myself.

Works for me, lord only know's when I will get it, it comes out in July right?

Here's a completely unrelated question about teaching English. In the UK would you write five million like this: 5,000,000.00 or like this: 5.000.000,00? Student needs to know and I don't.

Thanks.

Boo, you should buy your own copy - we all do, then you don't have to wait (and nor do we).

chris - version 1 is correct, though unless writing about money I would do it 5,000,000 without the last 2 decimal places. Also I'm afraid Amazon really comes into its own at times like HP releases. 21July is the date for the diary.

I will order two actually. Trev and Kieran will go into Purdah and read them in a day or two. However I intend to savour my last read. It is the last time I will be able to enjoy a HP for the first time ever again. The more you make a fuss the longer I will take - because, after all, I have got this youngest sibling thing off to a fine art! You will simply have to use the Muffliato hex on me if you need to talk about it
