End of days

Over the last few days there has been a lot of news about the large hadron collider in Cern, Geneva which was switched on today. Some people were saying that it would actually create a black hole and destroy the earth.
So yesterday at my coffee break at work I thought I would treat myself to a pain au chocolat. May as well push the boat out if the planet was only going to exist for another few hours. Imagine my disappointment to find they had all been eaten. Clearly everyone else had the same idea. But if that was true my fellow diners were all remarkably calm. This is a group of people who almost riot when the prices in the cafeteria are raised so you'd think they might panic a bit when the end of the world was nigh.
Anyway, the planet hasn't vapourised so it was just as well that I had a healthy banana instead. I also had a perfectly normal dinner but if I was going to plan my last supper I would have roast duck, with crackling, and roast potatoes followed by Choccie denver and raspberries.

That sounds utterly delicious, if you ever plan to put together your last supper, give me a call, m'kay?

Hehe! You know I felt rather silly and swore to myself that I wouldn't tell anyone, but seeing as you thought the same... at the prospect of being sucked into a black hole, or the planet being propelled out of orbit as I listened to radio 4 this morning, I comforted myself with the knowledge that if we all survived I would buy myself a hot chocolate from the cafe at work... which I will do tomorrow... had we not survived, well, we wouldn't know about it would we... a morbid thought... prey go back to the point about hot chocolate. :o)

I went mad and had a jammy doughnut yesterday in work as I thought 'stuff it' if the end of the world is nigh!

Good choice on the last dinner Boo, I'd have homemade lasagna (cooked by Carl), garlic bread and peas with a glass of red wine, followed also by chocolate denver but with cornish vanilla icecream AND cream. If I'm gonna die, I'm going out in style :)

My last meal would have to be Beef Casserole with roast potatoes and French beans (with butter on), and then my mums forest fruits trifle with vanilla custard. MMMM! :o)

I do think it says something about us as a family that none of us is much concerned about the end of the world except insofar as it means we will miss out on good food!
