Concert

Hi
I'm glad to report that the concert for Brian's piece went really well although the venue (it was in the Taliesin theatre in Swansea) was a very dead acoustic. The choir are stunnningly good - their other concert in the Vale of Glamorgan festival was recorded for Radio 3, and I think they really liked Brian's piece. The conductor asked him if he had any more choral works which he hasn't at the moment (at least not suitable for a professional choir) which i think means they really did like it and weren't just being polite. We have a recording of it too which the tech guy at the taliesin made so that is wonderful.

Nic is back home from 3 months in America, having spent 2 months doing Camp America and 1 month travelling she has gone back to college to finish her degree (I hope).

Brian bought a glass and aluminium sculpture while we were down at the cottage in the summer which i will attempt to include here (a pic of it that is) along with a few photos to show how wonderful the garden is now looking. It was 5 foot high nettles till a couple of years ago, so i think we can be justly proud of having somewhere to sit which is really very civilised now. Luckily most things seem to grow alright - we aren't the world's most informed gardeners!!

Photobucket

Hi, We've started uploading photos to photobucket. So we'll invite anyone who expresses an interest - so no expression, no invites! It allows the sharing of photos so you can view and download. Or you can copy the "tag" and paste into your blog entry, then publish and you get the picture on the blog. It's quicker than the blog photo upload. Here is me and Boo walking in lakes:

Carter family

Carter family
Having had password problems - I have too many and I can't keep track of them all - I have finally sorted them out to put something into this.

Brian is having a choral work performed and workshopped by the Latvian Radio choir next week in Swansea so we are really thrilled. They are a really good choir andit will be nice to hear the piece performed. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cheers
Helen

Erin

Well Erin got three As in her A levels so she is off to the university of York to study psychology in the Autumn. She also returned safely from her travels in the the far east where she did a lot of eating and impressed the Vietnamese with her chopstick skills (taught to her by Christine, I believe)
Here are some pictures. She was staying with her boyfriend's family near Hanoi. (That is not her boyfriend kissing her!)

Hello!

Not sure how many people read this, but I figure I should contribute a little. I am Kieran, in case you were wondering- yes the user name is awfully clever, isn't it? I actually have my own blog where I post on.... whatever takes my fancy. If reading it should take your fancy, you can go here.

Anyway, to try and pretend that this post is not just about shameless self promotion, I suppose I had better post a picture

This is myself, my girlfriend Alice, and my friend Ben, at the lovely weston super mare, back in June, having a day at the beach as our exams had finished.

The Tempest

We (Boo, Trev and Kieran) saw the Tempest in Stratford on Saturday. An outstanding production, with Jean-Luc in excellent form. Certainly blew spots of the Globe's production last year when 3 actors played all the characters.......

Next up is Comedy of Errors at the Globe, we're so intellectual

Erin's Travels

Well, we're still in SW, but Erin, having returned from Xante is now in Vietnam (Hanoi to start with). She is with her boyfriend's family, and we have no idea of the itinery. Thank goodness for mobile phones.

Kieran is learning to drive, so keep clear of SW roads..................

The lizard is called Eddie, he lived in our villa in Majorca.

Back from holiday

We are back from Sunny Mallorca where we had a prang with a mad Spanish driver. We were turning left into our villa when he decided to overtake the line of vehicles behind us. Trev saw him and straightened up but there was a glancing blow and the Spanish driver ended up in a ditch. Luckily everyone was OK and we didn't understand the Spanish invective we were treated to! The Mallorcan police were very nice and didn't blame us. So all's well that ends well.
Very nice holiday. The photos are still on the camera so I will spare you those

Am I in?

So I've worked in IT for the past 3 and a half years but am a blogging virgin...have some piccies from mine and Carl's recent trip to Glasgow for the wedding of our friend Alison (above with Bride's beer bottle), who we met when we were in Cyprus, to the lovely Craig. aboard 'The Tall Ship' on the Clyde. We had a fabulous time and loved Glasgow (a lot more than I expected to I have to say) but unfortunately weren't (or I wasn't anyway) really 'match fit' for the amount of drinking required...

New job is going well. First week over and everyone's been really lovely :) Let's see how much I like it once the work actually starts rolling in!!

Using "Blog This!"

Blog This!

So clicking "blog this" presents a little window in which you sign in and then can produce some text - just like this. So useful for quickly adding some words, but doesn't let you add pictures directly.
