Things

Just some general things as lots of stuff seems to be happening at the moment:

1) Finally received some birthday greetings from my errant sister - all is forgiven :)
2) Carl and I are getting a new kitchen next week, courtesy of dad, veeerrrrry excited about it.
3) Carl whisked me away to Paris for my birthday which was absolutely fabulous but I've lost the lead that connects my camera to my laptop so can't upload the phots :(
4) I tried oysters for the first time in Paris. Have discovered I don't like them and they didn't like me either...
4) My new job (I still call it that although I've been there a year now) is going really well and I've just been told I'm getting a payrise - yay!
5) Is anyone else watching Heroes? I think it's aboslutely brilliant.
6) Are we nominating another book for everyone to read? I was late finishing the last one but would love some recommendations for books as I'm still mourning post-Harry-book-7.

Hope everyone's well
Love Kate xxxx

I absolutely love Heroes. But can I say in my experience of working in a scientific institute that genetic scientists do not look like Dr Suresh! Where is the beard and the sandles with socks! If you have a sugestion for a book go for it!

Ooo, ok I'll have a think. I know of one I want to read but it's a historical one so might not pique everyone's interest. I'll have a browse online tonight and see what tickles my fancy :)

My favourite in Heroes is Hiro - he's soooo cute! Shame about those be-socked and sandled genetic scientists ;)

Never seen Heroes I have to confess, and now as the final reader of book 7 do we post here about it????? what happens, did it happen already and I missed it?

Historical works for me....

I think we should post about hp7 here on the basis that everyone who is going to read this blog and would have read the book will have done so by now.
I think we should go with your suggestion, Kate. Maybe part of the idea of a book group is to take people out of their comfort zones with reading.
Watched Heroes yesterday, excellent as ever but I have to say being radioactive is a rubbish super power!
By the way I'm impressed that you're blogging, Christine, having only just crossed the pond!

Ok cool, I will come back with a suggestion after the weekend then - how exciting if everyone reads a book I suggest!

Telepathy seems to be a bit of a problem too - i also think a lot more people would go into science if more of them looked like Suresh (!) Who cares about brains??

It depends if you can control being radioactive! Heh heroes is brilliant, watched it all on sci fi and loved it. The second season is out in the US soon Ihink, but no doubt will take another year to hit our screens....
